Another website that sends you media opportunities (part 2)

Looking for opportunities to get media coverage? Being a media source can be a great way for you to get press coverage, quotes in articles, and shareable links! It’s also an important way to position yourself as an expert in your field who is recognized by the media.

Though there are many paid options, I’m featuring a few websites that offer free registration and can be helpful in getting quotes and soundbites in the media. For part 2, we’re looking at Qwoted, which is, in their words, “a network connecting media with brands, experts and small businesses.

How it works: Similar to Haro, Qwoted will send you a roundup (frequency is determined by you) email with a summary of journalists looking for sources within categories and keywords you determine. You tell Qwoted what subject matters you’d like to speak on, and they’ll send you relevant hits.

One of the main differences between Qwoted and Haro is that it has limitations with a free account. With a free account, you have a limited amount of pitches (two) that you can use all month, then it refreshes each month. If you upgrade to a paid plan, you get more pitch options.

Who it’s for: “Subject matter experts with no PR representation looking to secure press coverage for themselves or their business.”

How to sign up: On the home page, click JOIN QWOTA FOR FREE and then it will give you options what kind of account you’d like to set up. Here’s the breakdown between paid vs. free plans. There’s quite a jump between the free and paid plan!

Here’s an example of a query from a journalist that I received in an email roundup. If you’re interested from the e-mail, you can click “Learn More & Pitch” and go to Qwota’s website for more.

Overall thoughts: though it seems like Qwota has some solid journalists on board looking for sources, the paid plan is pretty limited and it’s a huge jump to a paid plan (nearly $150/month). This could be a good solution for larger teams or companies, but if you’re just starting out, I’d recommend sticking with a free plan and using other services like HARO to search broadly for opportunities.
